Six-a-side

I think i will write this blog the way Suneel writes it :)...

I slept zzzzzzz...at 10:30 pm on friday night as i had to go to Columbus to play a six-a-side tournament on saturday...just when i was having the most comfortable sleep Hari called at 12:30 in the night grrrrrr..to tell me that we will be leaving Akron at 8:15 am..

So come saturday morning, after the usual 20-30 min delays, we were off to Columbus in three cars...Hemant (Hemant, Avinash, Rahul and Bhavin), Sunny (Sunny, Myself, Hari and Manpreet) and Dinu (Dinu, Raghav, Sreedhar and Kiran)drove..

Once we reached the ground, there was a party atmosphere with lotsa people and lotsa cricket and great weather greeting us..yippeee...

Akron 1 and Akron 2 both lost the first games narrowly when both the teams deserved to win...After a very disappointing first game we were off to lunch...$5 for very less food is not the idea of a perfect lunch but since beggars cant be choosers...we ate what was offered to us...We got the news prior to lunch that we wont be going thro' to the next round as in the pool of 3 one team had already won 2 games so all that was left for us was pride to play for..and we (both teams) did win the other 2 games in style...

Giving the scorecards of the 4 games Akron 1 & 2 played..

Game 1: Akron 2 vs Opponents Akron 2 - 58 in 5 overs...Opponents - 59 in 4 something overs
Game 2: Akron 1 vs Opponents Opponents - 54 in 5 overs...Akron 1 - 52 in 5 overs
Game 3: Akron 2 vs Opponents Opponents - 42 in 5 overs...Akron 2 - 47 in 4 something overs
Game 4: Akron 1 vs Opponents Opponents - 60 in 5 overs...Akron 1 - 61 in 4.5 overs

Hari, Avinash and Bhavin hit some huge sixes which could be described in one word only WHOOSHHHH

In short, it was a good ending although it could have been better had one of the teams gone thro to the next stage..Came back home at 6:15 pm..and dozed off zzzzzzzzz from 6:45 pm to 7:45 am ...13 hours straight awwwwwwww

One more thing, to write blogs the way Suneel does takes a lot of effort, which i just now realized..:)

New Template..

This new template from blogger is really something nice i have seen in a long long time..Saw Along Came Polly last night..Fun movie and as always is the case with Ben Stiller movies, he really is the scene-stealer..Amazing actor and a great sense of comedy..For those who want to see Ben at his best watch There's Something About Mary...

I am a great fan of comedy movies and couple of weeks ago i saw Cheaper By the Dozen starring Steve Martin...WHATAMOVIE...Laugh a minute riot that one is..if you are really stressed out after work or a bad day at school you need to get refreshed by watchin' that one..

F.R.I.E.N.D.S got over last week and the 2 hour finale was the best ending they could have given to the show which has a fan following all over the world..Used to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S in India during dinner time almost always irritating my parents..But episode after episode it used to get so enthralling that even my dad got hooked onto it...

So is the cricket debate over between co-bloggers...Abrupt end to this blog but couldnt think of anything :)..didnt want to finish off with the same old LATER GUYS :)but eventually still did..

G-MAIL..

Suneel suggested that I check out the new mail system from Google called G-Mail..Its a nice change from the regular inboxes with the main attraction being the 1 GB capacity..thats awesome..but G-Mail is only for select few people who use BLOGGER...Thats something which is going to limit the number of users..but then hey, all you guys can start blogging..that would be a nice way to share something and keep in touch in the long run..

Match on Sunday..first seasoned ball game of the season..hoping to play..will play..today i have stared at the computer screen for the longest time...was trying to figure out some stuff in I-DEAS...need to do that for the best part of 2 months..

Hope to play some racquetball today..been a while since i did that..the whole of last summer was spent playing racquetball and it helped me a great deal to lose some weight..sweating like anything and trying not to lose the game sure helps to shed some carbs..as history repeats itself..i am sure this summer is going to be as much fun as last year...

Eventful - Uneventful

Back to writing a blog after several dayz...noth much happening in life...not one masala khabar (did i say there is nothing to gossip..hmmmm)...no khel-khud..thanx to the rain gods..we were restricted to the indoors the whole of last week....one good thing that i did was saying YES to the six-a-side tournament..but, there may be 2 teams going to Columbus although just 5 guys mailed about their availability...

Its election fever in India and even though INDIA is SHINING..NDA isnt..is it becoz BJP and its allies haven't done too much (being complacent...) or is it Sonia/Priyanka/Rahul ka Jadu (jo kabhi fail nahi hua...just a rip-off from Dil Chahta Hai...)...whoever wins, lets pray INDIA keeps shining...

Great to know that now there are 5 companies which are BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES....3 software giants TCS, INFOSYS and WIPRO...a telecom major..BHARTI ENTERPRISES and a private company that goes by the name of RELIANCE....

20,000 more H1-B's to be issued???? thats the big question mark hovering above fresh graduates' heads.....how we all wish we could see that day and the bill being passed...the best part about that scheme is all the visas will be granted (if at all) to US University graduated students and its being supported by some of the world's richest and most profitable companies....

The only thing that was really hyped up since i wrote my last blog was VEERU KI SHAADI...Itna tho kisike bhi shaadi ka hype nahi hua hai bhai...All you could read in TOI in the sports column was how things were being managed by the NAJAFGARH NUKE's family...what a nickname to have NAJAFGARH NUKE...Sachin's 31st birthday was the other big headline..

Most parts of Akron U is under construction...it is ridiculous to see 3/4th of the campus dug up...hardly any space to walk...need to walk thro buildings to reach the destinations..come on..its spring time..almost summer time...we need to feel refreshed a bit after the snow...I think more than anything else, we need our cricket field back..:D

Hoping for things to change..

More later..
