Bad Luck..

Just when i had finished writing a big blog about my driving yesterday night....India's game against Australia tomorrow...Yesterdays' horrible seminar and plans for next summer....the computer showed an error and all my efforts went waste...how unfortunate....

Just saw AS GOOD AS IT GETS...the other day...its a nice feel good movie.. Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt do deserve their academy awards...

Juniors vs Seniors tennis ball cricket today....Hope it works out..

India take on Australia at WANKHEDE STADIUM..MUMBAI... tomorrow...want India to win..but as much as my heart wants India to take the honors...Australia is the biggest and hardest nut to crack in World Cricket at the moment....Lets hope there is some magic created...

He is back....

I am glad my advisor is back on his feet after his horrific accident...We thought he was going to be out for the next 7-8 months..But he is back in our lab and we shall soon start testing...Thats terrific news for all of us.....

Wallyball tonite..we are playing Wallyworld in the semis...the same team which we thrashed 15-2 15-1..but this time we have a challenge on our hands as they have another player who is nothing short of THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING in terms of height....the ball reaches him and we are dead meat...Another worry for BIOHAZARDS i.e. us is that we are out-of-form lately and havent been playing well at all...if both these factors are against us today...we can very well look forward to the Volleyball Intramurals...

Thanksgiving on 27th..so looking forward to that day when i can get a camera..preferrably a digicam..but a normal zoom camera of the highest qualilty will also do...India jo leke jaana hai...

Time for cookies and Mt.Dew at the COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING seminar series...Akron U is going nuts by organising such seminars....its an absolute waste of time for the graduate students...Why will a Biomedical Engineer be interested in whats happening in Civil Engineering or vice-versa...There should have been some sense in organising something like this....

Well...Dr.Njus hasnt read my proposal yet and so i am writing this blog in my freetime...Dr.Reddy's depressing class in the afternoon...GOD SAVE US....

A Good Feeling..

For the past couple of days I am getting a great feeling that my parents are with me in Akron and meeting all my friends and visiting my brother and sis-in-law in California...But to be frank...Me and my brother are chalking out an itinerary to get them to the United Stated next year...Lets hope we can get them here and they can enjoy the nice places around here...

November is going to be hectic as I take off for INDIA in December and i have to prepone all the exams, presentations and testing before i leave..

Its going to be fun to see INDIA take on AUSTRALIA...down under..and i will be there watching it live from my home...Isnt that cool...

A Job Well Done....

Yesterday was one of the most memorable days of my life....It was the Diwali show organised by ISA and ICAGA and nothing could have gone wrong...To be fair enough, I was a bit nervous before the start because of the set-up that was being made....40 mins to go and we werent getting the stuff right...That was really unnerving me...About being on stage...No tension whatsoever...i can proudly say now...BEEN THERE DONE THAT...HEMANT and ME started off the procedings by welcoming the audience and playing STAR SPANGLED BANNER...but unfortunately..it was played twice..it was a bit ridiculous....After that it was time for Dr Proenza and the Mayor to say a few words...Mr Ratanjit Singh Sondhi who was the main guest of Honor...A former Akron U graduate and now the CEO of Polycarb Industries said a few words.....AARTI followed...

It was time for the cultural events to start...Me and Hemant started off in our usual manner introducing the first event...A Bharatnatyam..Following that was an incident for which i wont forgive the person who did that...Mr Subhash Agarwal was to go in next for his song and the MC's were to introduce him..but he barged in himself and performed the songs...I was so mad...Man..me and Hemant had been sitting for 3 hours and prepared a script for the evening and he comes and spoils everything...undeterred by what he did...we went on with our prepared and at times impromptu act....Bhushan's skit was next which was well appreciated by the crowd...The audience were just beginning to enjoy themselves when Dhruv Khullar (Hrithik impersonater) danced...It was time for ME and SUNEEL to take centerstage with our Variety Singing...the audience went crazy listening to what we had to offer...

There were a couple of group dances...and then it was time for the most awaited skit...OUR ISA SKIT....Suneel, Hemant, Rajesh, Adi, Vikas, Hari. Mritunjay and MADHU...all of us had lot of fun during practice and now it was time to put our acts together on stage...the crowd was in raptures...went berserk on the jokes and it was the best performance of all the 13 events that were performed...Thanx to Kiran and Avinash who helped with the lights...

Following couple more performances..it was time to DANCE...ME and Suneel had the most number of performances..3 in all...Enjoyed dancing..it was fun...so after 2 hours of so...the audience surely knew who RAJESH was...that was good..It sure is good to be famous...

We had JANA GANA MANA at the end of the program...Like last year we had the BHARATBALA PRODUCTIONS' A.R Rehman's composition with some of INDIA'S most talented artistes singing the national anthem..It was annoying to see the crowd lined up for food before the national anthem...some of the people outside were laughing away to glory...but the worst was yet to come...some of the people started clapping once the Anthem was over...Please..no one claps for a national anthem...

Time for food...Properly belted the food (as HARI oh i am sorry...as HONEY would say!!!)

Before i end this blog...I have to say this...The work done by Madhu, Hari, Husna, Bhushan, Parag and Myself...was very painstaking..specially Madhu, Hari, Bhushan and Me..staying up all night to finish off the directory work was tough and took a lot out of us...and thanx to the audience and the Akron U crowd..the DIWALI show was worth waiting for.. A Special mention has to be made for Nikhil, Rahul, Badri and Neha who did a splendid job as co-ordinators...Lots of compliments for our play...I too got many..But the best one was from an american who said...SIR, YOU HAVE A TERRIFIC STAGE PRESENCE...YOU DID A GREAT JOB...

Thanx guys for making it worth...

Happy Diwali..

To all my fellow bloggers, friends in Akron and the rest of the world...Wishing you all a very very happy diwali and a prosperous new year...

Whats new..

Just decided by pure instincts yesterday to be the Master of Ceremony (MC) along with Hemant for Diwali...If i manage to pull that off, I will be all over the place at Central Hower on Sunday....Dance, Play, Songs and now this..whats more is in store GOD only knows...The crowd will see a lot of me that day..and I hope at the end of the day they are not bored looking at me...Praying.....If anyone wants to see me on Sunday...please come over to the stage area...thats where i am going to be.....

Exam in another 4 hours....Directory work after that for another 8 hrs or so...Boy...is it going to be one heck of a night or what...Hope I can stay awake....The best part about this ISA job...FREE FOOD everytime we meet...Isnt that cool....Well,on the other hand, lotsa responsibilities to take care off...

Coming back to our play..TERI BIWI SIRF MERI HAI....The making of the play is according to me..is more hilarious than the actual play...Hope we prove it wrong on Sunday...It is absolute chaos during practice...Madhu just cant control herself while Mritunjay as a body-double is a totally different story....

The less said about the dance..the better my blog looks....For VARIETY SINGING...practice time with Suneel on Thursday Friday and Saturday...

Diwali Auditions...

Today it was the day for all the participants for Diwali to show their true talents in front of the audition committee comprising of Mrs Srimathy and Mr Subhash Agarwal from ICAGA and Myself and Madhu from ISA....

A decent number of participants took centerstage (till we told them to stop mid-way through their performances..)......We performed a couple of scenes from our skit....couple of steps from our dance and sang 2 songs for TWIST THE TUNES....called here as VARIETY SINGING...Me and Suneel have maximum participation with 3 performances (Dance, Song and Play..)

After all the HUNGAMA was over, it was time for dance practice....I got really irritated today because no one was showing any interest (except Suneel...He is a LIVEWIRE).....After getting thro the horrific dance practice, time to watch HUNGAMA (movie)....

Just got off after the Skit practice which is taking shape beautifully with all the antics being done during the making of the play...its going to be even more crazy when Hemant joins us tomorrow...

Time to study now...will write more later...keep blogging or should i say do keep visiting for more..

BUSY BEE...

Been really busy as hell for the past 2 days with diwali stuff and homework submissions....today again its going to be hectic considering i have diwali practice and i have to prepare myself for an impending exam on the 22nd...JUST BEFORE DIWALI...how horrible can it be....For the past 2 days myself and Suneel have been slogging our butts off for writing a script and we were able to come up with a decent plot for the 26th...time of sleep---- 5:00 am and 3:00 am respectively on Wednesday and Thursday....dance practice too...DANCE AND ME....YES....giving it a shot....wont tell u guys anything more...see it for urself...not that i am the greatest dancer ever..but hey..i surely can do some dancing...

My BOSS is back after the accident that he had and we are back on track for my Master's project...Hopefully we achieve something productive before the MOST AWAITED INDIA TRIP....Proposal and testing to start soon...Looking forward to some REAL SPINE TESTING...

Looks like this is all i can write for today..time to take off and do some serious FRACTURE MECHANICS...

Script for Diwali...

Last nite myself, Suneel and Brijesh sat down at 11:15 to decide on the script for Diwali...And by the looks of it we have almost narrowed down to one play...Should be a good one...wont let out the details of the play on the blog..wont be much fun if i did...

Looks like the visitors to my blogspot are increasing by the day...Thank you all for making it what it is today...Was that a good "political" statement or what...

The network in the GRAD lab of my department is not working...So i cant login to my beloved YAHOO MESSENGER....Suneel gave me and Avinash appropriate nicknames last year...CHAT KINGS...How about that...That was becoz whenever he saw us in the lab, all we used to do was chat.....chat and more chat with the folks back home and some of them over here....Missin those days(last year) a lot...The days of the chat sessions i mean not the depressing classes which we had....

Dr. Reddy's class today afternoon....WHATABORE....There is absolutely no life in that class....Hope we can get through the semester soon...Praying Hard...

Nothing special to write about 2day...Saw DARNA MANA HAI and NAYEE PADOSAN last night...Plans to attend the ASG meeting at 4:00 pm and class at 6:40 pm...

Wallyball practice at 8:00 pm...Man..do i have a tight schedule 2day or what...Thankfully its not my cooking turn tonite...

Browns Vs Raiders...

Following the game online...Hope the Browns win today.....they havent been doing too well at HOME....

Went to Manpreet's B'day party last nite...Senti hogaya Gabroo...After a nice time at Fir Hill, Ma'self, Avinash, Sunny, Hari and C-Rish were off to Stonehedges for some kick-ass BOWLING.....After 3 rounds of bowling...any guesses who would have won it.....of course ME....

Hari and Avinash lost the bet and the game to me and Sunny and they shall be treating us each a McSundae....How about that....

Came home at 12:40 in the night and headed stright to Hari's house for some timepass...slept at 3:30 in the morning just get up at 11:00 am for ISA and ICAGA meeting...Phani is here in Akron and it shall be fun with him till the time he is here...Plans to sit with Suneel and get a script ready for Diwali....

For all those visiting my blogspot regularly...I have changed the look of my blogspot....Your comments are most welcome...My personal opinion...it sure looks COOL...Doesnt it...Spent a lot of time changing the settings...

Yesterday was a nice day for me...Saw Italian Job at the Polymer Engg Academic Center (PEAC)....Also present were all the active and passive bloggers from Akron except Suneel..He was off... playing badminton.... The movie was very very good....Charlize Theron sizzled on screen...thats what was expected of her....Hemant and me were our usual "American Desi" self...Sapna couldnt control her laughter while me and Hemant were doing the talking..breaking the concentration of few Chinese guests who were following the movie so seriously as it were a research paper being presented....

It was then time for barbacue at night for possibly the first time at 425 Sumner...Avinash had the whole plan set up..it was quite a good turnout...Ma'self, Avinash, Kiran, Bhushan, Suneel, Hari, Sunny, Vikas, Guru and Shirish...We had a good time eating outside our house and hope we can recreate this atmosphere once again before it starts snowing...

Today morning i got a call from an annoying lady...She wanted her son to participate in the Diwali function...She was so rude while talking...as if she was doing a favor on us by sending her son to the auditions....that too she was from ICAGA...ISA is what matters to me...

Anyways..ending on a happy note...Party time at Fir Hill tonite for Gabroo's Birthday Party....

VESITmania....

Sitting here in my lab along with Suneel...we were discussing our past memorable years in VESIT...Our Beloved VESIT.....One of the good things about my college was the festival UTSAV...It used to be an Intra-VESIT affair...but the rivalry between the individual classes were more than INDO-PAK cricket clash..or for that matter any INDO-PAK clash...

Hardsell..The chief entertainment program....was the one to be watched out for.....What is Hardsell...You are supposed to sell a product given to u in the most comic way u can...It can be vulgar to an extent....Our college being the "core of culture"....HARDSELL used to be AN UNOFFICIAL EVENT...and to make life difficult for the other classes....INSTRUMENTATION batches..INSTRU as they are fondly called used to be KINGS in this event...We have a long and impressive record in winning hardsell...I myself was a member of a winning hardsell team for 2 years straight in my S.E and T.E and a third place winner in my B.E.....Have had a ball of a time during UTSAV...

When i came to Akron last year...Suneel and I were planning to have HARDELL during Diwali...But considering the CULTURAL MANIA surrounding ICAGA....we decided against it and ended up doing a play on stage....This time too hopefully we can get our acts together to plan a succesful play or something in the region of it...

Meeting with Mr Subhash Agarwal (ICAGA rep) today...to discuss Auditions for DIWALI...Hope we can get something positive out of it...

Sumner Junta in the dept now...3 from 425 Sumner....Talking about Matthew Hayden's brilliant 380 against Zimbabwe....Great Innings....

Planning to get the broadband connection for the tri-series and the second test...but then there are always PLANS....

Harry Buffalo..

It was supposed to be a DESI Bhangra nite out at Harry Buffalo yesterday.....What a Pathetic turnout.....We reached there at 11:15 pm...only to see a disappointing turnout there....Rishi Matkar was trying to be the ideal host trying to get everyone join in the fun...We finally got in after a lot of deliberation...Avinash and Dhanraj didnt look too keen seeing the crowd there...ABCD Junta was in full swing....Looked like that was the first time they had been to a disc....Poor Souls...

At around 12:00, we decided it was time to rock the dance floor and in we went....Should say..Manpreet should stick to playing cricket..He is horrible as a DJ....so was his friend/cousin whoever took over after Manpreet stopped being ther DJ....Thank you Gabroo..

We danced our hearts out for whatever time DESI music was being played...The organisation of the party could have been 1000 times better...by that way..atleast more people could have showed up...Well...Hope that we have this kinda nite some other time too...It sure is a good workout....

Time for class....Hope to pay attention and not sleep through it...But what can we do..Dr Reddy is an expert at putting all of us to sleep...

Exam ho gaya.....

Just got over with the exam...decent effort...could have been better....I always say that....a scope for improvement always ......what say....Saw Koi...Mil Gaya yesterday night...Brilliant performance by Roshan Jr....The Alien looks like an Alien for a change...Thanx to the creative guys from Australia...Saw Jhankaar Beats the other day...Awesome movie...Light-hearted and really funny...all the guys have done a splendid job....

Talking about movies, I remember seeing Dil Chahta Hai with Nishit and Mayank at Vashi....That was after my GRE.....It reminded me of Nishit and Mayank and ofcourse myself...the life we lived...not to a big extent but still it did...Nishit and Mayank are my best friends from college..(For those in Akron who didnt know..)...Nishit is working at Subhash Ghai's studios..(He is a big time movie freak...and has probably watched all the HITS and the SUPER FLOPS on the BIG SCREEN)....He is living his dream of making it into the Film Industry....BOLLYWOOD...

Mayank is doing his MBA from J.N Bajaj...Solid brain hai bole tho...more than brain...solid smart bandha hai....Bahut keeda kiya hai hum teeno ne college ke dino mein...I remember going to college in the 8th semester and playing cricket after a short stint of studying....Mayank ko tho padne deta hi nahi tha....i am sure he lost some of his "marks" due to me....God know how he managed to get a distinction in the 8th sem...

Nishit used to study at home..saala...used to hang around with books till the last warning bell for the exam to start had rung.....Faltugiri aisa to bolne ke liye hazaaron hai...but aaj ke liye itna hi kaafi hai....

2 Months..

2 months and i am off to India on Dec 7th...Am i looking forward to that or what....But before that lotsa things to be taken care off...3 courses..Master's Project...ISA....GSG....well...lot more than expected..but hey...INDIA is INDIA...isnt it...How i wish i could get a job in India and settle there..Family...Friends..Well-wishers...everyone is in India..My LIFE is in India...How can i forget her....Watching cricket in India...Watching movies in India...Hanging out with friends in India...Well...these things were only a dream when i came to America last year....But in 2 months time i will get to enjoy these things as well...The DREAMER that i am i would never like to get up from sleep when i am thinking about India..Fortunately or Unfortunately, Life has to go on...

The worst part about tomorrow...Exam...But then every passing moment is bringing me closer to my destination...that is...INDIA....

You must be wondering...what the hell is this guy talking about.....But then...One really is attached to his or her motherland when he or she is away from her.....Same is the case with me....You can think..i am still HOMESICK and wanna get back HOME....coz HOME is where the HEART is.....

Fresher's Party..

Yesterday was the fresher's party for the Fall 2003 batch at Memorial Hall...Starting time 5:00 pm....ACTUAL starting time 7:10 pm.....Wasnt that PUNCTUAL...29 Freshers turned up for the event and a total of approximately 75-80 people present in the Hall...Quite a good turnout...

We started out by getting the new ISA committee introduced.....Then it was time for the Freshers to take centre-stage..Actually time for them to get RAGGED....It actually was going on well but thanx to 2 over-enthusiastic guys it was starting to get very irritating..Hemant and ME were to be the hosts for the evening..but somehow I was the only one who was shouting on top of my voice...Reason...Microphones not working...(Something had to go wrong)...No complaints since my voice was very loud and audible for the people present there....

After a lenghty session of Introduction...it was time for Suneel to take over and preside over the game of PULLING THE GUY...Hopefully I got the name of the game right...Guess who wins the game...Sindhura....A delibrate ploy....Hmmmmmm..Point to Ponder....

45 mins left for the Hall to close....Time for DANCE...I did my best i must say to get all the freshers to dance...But alas....it went in vain...Only a selected bunch danced away to glory...Proud of you guys!!!!!!

Food Time.....Menu for the evening...CHOLE (RAHUL SHARMA), PULAV (KUMAR AND NIKHIL), RAITA (SINDHURA,PRATYUSHA AND RENUKA), GULAB JAMUN (MANISHA PATEL), DAL (VAL).. Luckily enough food was availble for 80 odd people to eat...I just got one serving...Pathetic...Never mind..it was a party for the newcomers and they had their stomach's full....hope that all of them had a good time...Thanx to the 29 freshers who turned up yesterday...

I think it was an "effort to remember" put in by the committee members for putting up a decent show....Thanx guys for all your help...A special thanx to Suneel and Reshma.....It wouldnt have been possible without you...Lets do a great job for DIWALI...

Once again a reminder..DIWALI AUDITIONS ARE ON THE 12TH AND 19TH OF OCTOBER...SHRANK HALL SOUTH...The fliers are out...Desi Night at HARRY BUFFALO..looking forward to that..

Browns win against arch rivals Pittsburgh Steelers gave a much needed happiness to apna gang of loyal BROWNS Fans....Next stop Oakland Raiders...Tough game...

Unwell..

I am not mentioning about the MATCHBOX 20 song UNWELL...I am really sick today...Have a bad bad cold and to make it worse my body is aching so very badly...

Never had this trouble since i came to America...Hope i get well soon....Have the Fresher's Party tomorrow...Have to be fit for that...Time for groceries today (for the guys who are making the dishes for tomorrow)...getting the music system rented....We have half the work force than we generally have...Bhushan and Dhanraj have gone for their respective on-campus jobs...Hari has gone to play six-a-side in COLUMBUS...So its upto Madhu, Husna, Parag and a not at all fit Rajesh....

Hope we can get our acts together for tomorrow...Since its Saraswati Pooja today...No studying from BOOKS...Computer related things are allowed...

Saw another movie last night...ZINDAGI KHOOBSURAT HAI starring GURDASS MANN and TABU...not a bad movie...not that great either....

Diwali is just around the corner...I am hoping we can work out another play like last time where we had the audience laughing their hearts out...

Fresher's Party on the 5th (Sunday)..Hope all the ISA guys turn up for it....Its time to make the Fresher's Party a grand success...

Saw the movie OFFICER yesterday starring Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Danny......A must watch film.....Boring first half but edge of the seat action in the second....Be sure to rent the cassette from Spice Corner...(Am i sounding like I am advertising for Spice Corner????)...

We won the Wallyball game yesterday night 15-0 and 15-2 against our own BMES (BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING SOCIETY).....We win one more and we are through to the playoff's....

Supposedly it SNOWED yesterday morning....Is this the silence before the storm....Lets hope not....But living through the day, doesnt look like snow is too far away...Time to get ur SKIING boots out of the cup board.....BOSTON HEIGHTS..Here we come...

Abhi time for homework..Dr Reddy is asking for homeworks nowadays...Boy...Times are really changing...

This one is dedicated to Kirti, Nishit, Mayank, Anuradha and Samit....The times spent with you guys in VESIT were memorable...Hope I can go back in time and RELIVE those days with gr8six once again...Those days will never comeback..just thinking about the times gone past us brings me more closer to you guys than ever before...All of us have gone searching for a stable and secure future ahead but i know that...whenever we need each other we will be there in full strength....to support each other in times of distress....to encourage when the confidence is low....to cheer up when things are not going smooth.....

Just thinking about the POONA and the GOA trip....Best ever college time..Best ever time together.....The College Festivals...That did spice up our lives a bit....Staying back in college after 2:00 pm daily...I attribute that as one of the main reason for all 6 of us being together....Most times we spent together were in HARMONY..but few tiffs here n there couldnt dampen our enthusiasm for being together....

I was very glad to see you guys during Ganesh's marriage...8 days were too less...so here i am coming again on Dec 9th.....May be you guys are busier than ever...But hey...there is always time for friends....

NO matter how far we are from each other....(I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO IS FAR AWAY...) we will be together...
